Rebel, the Wonder Horse Rebel is a registered Tennessee Walking Horse, He was sold at a young age to a breeding farm as a prospective show horse. As a young stallion, his high spiritedness got him into trouble and he bounced around to several homes and trainers until he was accidentally burned and was ruined as a show horse. Some trainers had deemed him "UNTRAINABLE" and therefore, not to be used as a breeding stallion. Rebel's life began a downhill slide into a life of misery, little food and poor living conditions. He seemed destined for an even worse fate until Texas Kate came along. "The first time I saw him, he stumbled out into the sunlight, his head down, his eyes were listless and he was a walking bag of bones. His hair coat was missing in patches from malnutrition and bleached by the sun to the color of dirty sand. His mane and tail were gone. He appeared to have no interest in life any more." "I had purchased Rebel over the phone, sight unseen. I remember thinking, 'Oh no, what have I done?"
Rebel's somewhat stubborn, indomitable spirit emerged along with a personality that is perfect for comedy routines. A star was born! Now fat and sassy, with a long flowing mane and wispy tail, his coal black coat gleaming in the sunlight, Rebel delights audiences with his antics. The scars on his back legs are testimony to the abuse he suffered but now he stands tall and proud. Here are some more photos of this wonderful animal. Click on the image to enlarge it.
